Yard of the Month - November 2021

Congratulations go to Phyllis Simpson at 4701 Aaron Drive for being the November 2021 Yard of the Month. For many years this homeowner has meticulously maintained a well manicured yard. The combination of beautifully trimmed hedges, weed-free flower beds, and nicely edged grass and delightful decorations made this the November 2021 Yard of the Month!

A Message from Your HOA President
A Message from Your HOA President

I greatly appreciate the support of the Board in electing me to this role and the nomination of Past President, Cindi Groomes, to whom I and this community owe a lot. Being part of the Oak Highlands-Deer Valley HOA has become increasingly important to me, as I respect the role that an HOA can play in fostering a safe living environment and healthy sense of community. The past year reminds us that those concepts are changing but very important. I always want to be part of those efforts and to help YOU be a part.

Amended Covenants & Restrictions
Amended Covenants & Restrictions

Currently the Oak Highlands restrictive covenants are slightly different than the Deer Valley covenants. A revision was needed in order to have continuity within the community and bring the covenants up to current standards. The changes were made based on input and feedback from homeowners and attorneys, along with more modern wording and a clear table of contents. Homeowners are invited and encouraged to review the Draft of the NEW Amended and Restated Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions for Oak Highlands/Deer Valley. Please read the full article for more information and the link to the Draft.

Parking & Safety Concerns
Parking & Safety Concerns

The board has received several complaints about people parking on the streets. Complaints have come in for Aaron Drive, Deer Valley Trail, Brian Circle, Canoe Ridge Point, Copper Ridge Trail, Pinot Chase, Streamdale Point, and West Oak Highland Drive. The concerns are valid. Parking on the street causes decreased visibility and in some cases, when cars are parked on both sides of the street makes it impossible for emergency vehicles to get through. What can you do to help?

Don't Dump Grass, Limbs or Leaves!
Don't Dump Grass, Limbs or Leaves!

Did you know that if your yard waste ends up in a drainage ditch you could be fined $50 by the HOA?! That's right. There is a "NO DUMPING" rule in our neighborhood. Grass clippings, limbs and leaves that get dumped in the "woods" behind your home and end up in the drainage ditches will clog the drainage pipes and could cause flooding to near by homes. DO NOT DUMP!! Your neighbors down stream will probably notice, get tired of cleaning up after you and will most likely report you.
